UX Researcher @ Chan Zuckerberg Initiative
Neby
Teklu
Neby Teklu is a User Experience Researcher with a particular interest in inclusive design and hybrid research. She believes that everyone using technology in classrooms deserve a delightful experience, regardless of background or ability.
She spends her time studying how teachers can maximize the amount of time spent on meaningful instruction at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Prior to this, she was researching how teams communicate ideas and collaborate on files at Dropbox.
She holds a B.A. from Duke University and is happiest when eating Ethiopian food and reading about behavioral economics.
When most people hear “accessibility”, they tend to think about one group of people: the chronically blind. While the needs of this subset of our population are critical and often underserved, this perspective fails to address how we are all beneficiaries of accessible design. In this talk, Neby Teklu offers a modern perspective on what it means to have a disability, and shares lessons from designing for one of the most dynamic environments: classrooms.
